Is Ibiza Just About Partying?
No, there’s a lot more to the island but sadly, many tourists completely overlook this side of Ibiza. There’s also an old quarter in Ibiza Town that often gets missed. Many don’t bother to explore the countryside away from the main resorts either. In springtime they’re a riot of colour as wild flowers bloom in the improving temperatures. Later in the year you can see the farmers harvesting their crops including delicious grapes destined for the island’s wine. Then there’s ‘The Egg’, a monument to Christopher Columbus as the island is one of the places claiming to be his birthplace.
What’s the Best Way of Getting to Ibiza?
You are spoiled for choice. Almost every regional airport in the UK flies there and as well as the seasonal tour operator charters there’s also several budget airlines that fly year round to the island. The airport is just over four miles from Ibiza Town and easily reached by a range of different buses and taxis.

It’s grand and modern, yet traditional looking. It’s big and it has to be as it handles over five million passengers a year.
What Can I Expect When I Land There?
There are no air bridges from your plane to the terminal and on arriving you are expected to cross from the aircraft steps to the staircases that take you up to the arrivals level. From there you’ll pass through passport control and on to collect your luggage. The arrivals hall is long and narrow and the information desk is positioned where arrivals and departure halls cross. There, the staff are happy to answer questions about the airport or give directions. It’s from there too that assistance is provided for passengers with mobility issues. Just remember to give your airline details of your needs well in advance.
Once in the arrivals hall you’ll easily locate the car hire companies along the back wall and can complete the paperwork for your pre-booked car there. It’s wise to pre-book as at peak times as choices can be limited. If you’re using public transport to your resort, look at the schedules displayed by the information desk as there are many different companies and routes.
And When I Leave?
The airport has great facilities for departing passengers, akin to some of the major airports in the UK. After checking in your luggage there’s a very large shopping area laid out over marbled floors and with bright lighting. Almost anything you may want in the line of fashion, gifts, electricals and reading material is found there and after shopping you’ll still be able to look forward to eating out in a choice of restaurants from fast food to a la carte. After security you have duty free shopping and further cafes and bars for those who are still hungry. Wi-Fi is also available at the airport.
