Granada Airport Mini Guide
Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport is named after Spain’s most famous poet who was born in the city of Granada.
The airport is situated around 10 kilometers west of Granada in the south of Spain and is used by more than one million passengers per year.
From Granada they can fly to European destinations such as London, Paris, Rome and Frankfurt, though most of its traffic is from domestic flights. From Granada there are direct flights to Barcelona, Girona, Madrid, Melilla and Palma de Mallorca.
The airlines Ryanair, Iberia, Air Europa, Clickair, Spainair, Transavia and Vueling all do flights from Granada, and in the future routes are being planned to Lisbon in Portugal and Amsterdam in Holland.
The Granada Airport arrivals hall, which can hold around 600 passengers, is on the ground floor of the passenger terminal and has three luggage carousels as well as the national police, civil guard and customs. The departures area has more than 10 check in desks and a number of shops and restaurants to keep those passengers who are waiting entertained.
There are five main Granada airport car hire companies which are Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Goldcar and National Atesa. All of these offer a good range of cars and it is sometimes possible to return the cars to different locations in Andalusia.
There is short term parking at Granada airport for 450 cars and the usual Spanish rates apply – just under 50 cents for the first half hour and just over eight Euros after the fifth day.
If you are planning to leave your car at Granada airport for a long time there is long term parking on the approach to the airport which costs seven Euros per day. Shuttle buses are waiting by the long term parking to take you to the terminal
