Welcome to a quaint and purposeful airport which serves the seventh and smallest of the Canary Islands. It provides your gateway to a natural paradise, with unusual landscapes and brimming with a variety of things to see and do during your stay.
Flights go to and from other islands in the archipelago, mainly Tenerife and Gran Canaria. Whilst more than 170,000 passengers arrive on flights per year, this is an unspoiled haven to indulge all sorts of interests including divers, budding historians and those with a passion for nature and conservation.
Getting Around
The airport is located in the island capital Valverde (meaning green valley) which boasts a busy social scene. To make your onward journey after landing there are buses running periodically through the day. There is public transport linking the island villages and taxis are always for hire. If you would like to sample the delights of El Hierro to the full, car hire is strongly recommended. Passengers with reduced mobility are well catered for with facilities such as allocated parking spaces, lowered kerbs, lifts and other adapted equipment for use inside the terminal.
