Trapani has many churches and a cathedral. Religion is important to the people and if you’re there in Holy Week, the ‘I misteri’ processions of statues from the churches and cathedral through the streets accompanied by music and candles is an amazing spectacle. Hire a car to visit the Museo del Sale which celebrates the city’s original salt industry.

The factory is still semi operational and visitors can see how the salt is collected and refined. Another interesting museum is that in the Tower of Ligny which marks the link the city has had with the sea over the centuries.
