Palermo is famed for the design of its religious buildings and the unusual influence that Arabic art had on their interior design. If you hire a car you’ll be able to visit some of the main ones and marvel at the beautiful mosaic work that decorates them.

Of particular note is the Cappella Palatina, thought to be one of the most beautiful churches in the world, with its stunning Arabian designs and beautiful mosaics. For more wonderful ecclesiastical art visit the Gesu Chapel which has an unusual style of mosaic adding beauty to the surroundings.
