Car Hire Acapulco Airport

"Hiring a car from the airport will open up the whole of Mexico’s Pacific coast to the adventurous traveller."

cheap car hire Acapulco Airport

By hiring a car from the airport you’ll be able to visit the traditional areas of this vibrant resort city. Head for Zocalo, the old heart of the city where you’ll find the cathedral, one of Acapulco’s oldest buildings. Here you’ll also see the culture of true Mexico much better than in the more touristy areas.

The nightlife here is quite spectacular too with street entertainers vying for a little extra cash from the tourists. For a relaxing day out, take the boat to Isla de la Roqueta and see the yachts and beachside homes of the rich and famous.

Acapulco Airport Mini Guide

Acapulco International Airport
Acapulco International Airport is located approximately 26 kilometress from the centre of Acapulco city in the province of Guerrero Mexico. It has played a huge part in the facilitation of international tourism for southern Mexico. Its general aviation terminal is a classic 1960’s circular building while the passenger terminal is a far more modern building. It handles larger passenger traffic yearly and has regular air connections to its sister airport in Mexico City.

What’s Available at the Airport?
The shopping experience at Acapulco Airport has all you would expect from a large international air terminal but of course with a slight Mexican flavour. The beautiful souvenir shops with hand-woven cloths and enormous sombreros will remind you exactly where you are. It’s easy to slip into the holiday mood as soon as you touch down. Duty free options at the airport are fantastic and include the finest hand rolled Cuban cigars and seemingly endless tequila selections along with the predicted collections of designer scents and international brand name goods.

Something Tasty?

There are many restaurants and bars serving a fine variety of ingredients and authentic Mexican flavours as well as the usual international chains offering french fries and burritos. Freshly ground coffee wafts from the many coffee houses and offer a perfect start to your morning. VIP lounges with Champagne on ice add a touch of class, while an up to date business centre is fully equipped with all you may need to check your office is in order while you’re away.

Getting There
There is a regular bus service available from Acapulco city to the airport with connections running on average every 10 minutes or so, the Servicio Colectivo service stops on request and is really a hybrid of a taxi and a bus. Drivers will drop you to your destination on a first come first served basis. There is also a shuttle service to the city centre run by the Transportes Terrestres but for return journeys to the airport passengers must book in advance. Private taxis are available from the airport, they are specially licensed cabs and generally very reliable but it is good advice to remember to always agree a price before getting in. Finally and highly recommended while in the city and during your stay do as the locals and hit the pavement you’ll be most pleasantly surprised at the feel and beauty of the old Acapulco.

Disabled Access in Acapulco Airport
As the passenger terminal is a modern building it is generally accessible to those with restricted mobility, there are accessible WC facilities and ramps throughout the terminals. It is recommended however that passengers who may require special assistance, mobility or otherwise should inform their carrier at the time of booking.

Car Hire Acapulco Airport Customer Comments:

Car was not what I expected, it did the job, but rental cars should be new. Car Had over 50k km on clock and inside was well used. Assume this car was near the end of its rental life. Shame I ended up with it. Otherwise no complaints.
