Verona is a fabulous city, setting of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and home of the opera festival staged in the massive Roman arena which can seat up to 25,000 people. There are many famous buildings there dating from Roman and medieval times.
Hiring a car will help you to navigate your way between them or explore the countryside outside the city. Whilst there, check out the museum which has many artefacts linked to one of the city’s most famous residents, Leonardo da Vinci. Finally, take time to tour the city at night when many of the landmarks are sympathetically illuminated.

Verona in north west Italy is most famous for its role as the setting of Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet. The airport at Verona is actually called Valerio Catullo di Verona Villafranca, but most people call it 'Verona-Villafranca'. The Airport IATA code is VRN.
This is a magical and romantic part of Italy to cvisit, especially as once you have hired a car it is possible to drive on to nearby Venice as well.
If you want to cut your costs for airplane travel you can also go to Verona Brescia Airport, otherwise known as D’Annuzio Airport which is located 50 kilometres to the west. D’annuzio has some low cost carriers operating from the terminal there.
You can also pick up your Rhino car hire vehicle from there to make the short drive and Rhino can even arrange for you to use different pick up and drop off points if this is more convenient. Then you make the 150 kilometre journey by setting off on the A4 road towards Padova.
The large city of Verona is home to a quarter of a million people and has some spectacular sights to see. The most popular of these is Juliet’s house and balcony where the infamous love scene in Shakespeare’s play was set. There is also a magnificent Roman amphitheatre called the Arena which is the third largest surviving amphitheatre in the world. It still functions to this day despite the crumbling façade.

The architecture in Verona is quite stunning and so you can use the card to view a number of castles, churches and cathedrals during your stay.
One good way of seeing the city in its entirety is to climb to the top of the Lamberti Tower which will give you incredible panoramas out over Verona.
The best thing about having a car there is that it allows you to get to the renowned wine regions of Valpolicella and Soave and take a guided tour. These wine go excellently with the local Verona cuisine, though beware – one of the specialities is horse meat.
