Getting to Garda
Garda, or Lake Garda as tourists commonly refer to it, is easily accessible from the main international airport of Verona-Villafranca. This airport is located approximately 15km from the area of Garda, making it a short and easy journey in your hire car. Hire cars can be collected from the airport, it is recommended to book in advance to secure the best prices, especially in peak season. The next closest airport is Brescia-Montichari, which is around 30km away. Easyjet provide a range of low cost flights from various UK locations.

Lake Garda in northern Italy is so magical that tourists continue to visit there year after year and often make use of a rental car to do so. With a vehicle you can choose to stay at one of a number of towns along the lake or hop from one to the other eating, relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. Some of the towns worth seeing are Toscolano and Maderno, Torri del Benaco and Moniga. Malsecine with its winding medieval streets and an old castle which was constructed in the 14th century is very beautiful.
Those who know their architecture will see a number of different styles around Lake Garda including classical and the Italian vernacular style. At the south of the lake you will find the most beaches and an adventure park for the outgoing, while the north of the lake is more relaxing and peaceful. Families with children may want to head to the south.
A good way to get an overview of all of Lake Garda is to take the cable car to Montebaldo which overlooks the lake and also has great views of the surrounding mountains. For the active you can also do water sports at Lake Garda. Because it can get quite windy sailing and windsurfing are the two most popular pastimes. If you ever get bored of Lake Garda, which is unlikely, the area is also equidistant from both Milan and Venice. Another way of enjoying the scenery is to take a boat trip on the lake. there are many to choose from of differing duration but all breath-taking.
Lake Garda is a very popular holiday resort attracting people from all over the world and is also a popular destination to hold a wedding.

At the outdoor event, fish caught in the lake are given fresh to celebrity chefs who, in their al fresco kitchens have to prepare a meal using them.
