Fuerteventura Airport Mini Guide
Fuerteventura airport is located not very far away from the island’s capital Puerto Rosario, and is a modern airport which has been well-designed.
The airport is next to the Atlantic, affording great sea views as soon as you step off the plane and is also conveniently situated close to Corralejo and Caleta de Fuste, the main beach resorts of Fuerteventura. Occasionally the plane, on arrival, will need to pull up a little distance short of the terminal but when this happens buses will have been organised to take passengers the rest of the way.
Air Berlin, Air Europa, Air Italy and Easyjet are some of the many European companies which do flights to Fuerteventura.
If you are departing from Fuerteventura the airport lays on a last chance to take advantage of the great duty free shopping opportunities of the Canary Islands with a number of retail outlets selling everything from perfume and clothes to alcohol and cigarettes. These shops are open from 7.30am until 10pm. If you need a trolley to take your luggage, make sure you have a one pound or one Euro coin on you to unlock it.
Car hire in Fuerteventura gives you the freedom to explore this exotic island and is the cheapest method of transport in the long run as a taxi from the airport to the city alone will cost you 45 Euros. There are something in the region of 300 cars for hire at Fuerteventura of a large selection including jeeps for those off road sightseeing tours.
Car parking is relatively cheap as it is free for the first half hour and of a minimal half hourly cost after that. However, the daily maximum after the fourth day goes up to around eight Euros. At the airport there are four automatic pay machines accepting Euro coins and cards. For more information about Fuerteventura airport contact 928 855 432.
