Harlow was one of Britain’s ‘new towns’ carefully planned to make a pleasant living environment and to ease the congestion of inner London. Today it still has many of the green spaces that made it so attractive and, if you have a hire car, you can visit one of Britain’s largest urban parks, Harlow Town Park.

Many of Britain’s top architects were involved in the design of the town and its buildings and several of them stand as definitive examples of their work. A walk around the town will find examples by Powell, Moya, Fry and Drew, all prominent architects.
