Brindisi Casale Airport Mini Guide
Why two Airports for Brindisi?
Brindisi Airport is rapidly growing and is already working at capacity. The opening of Casale Airport has taken some of the pressure off it and has given travellers extra options in terms of budget flights to the region from across Europe and the UK with a new route from Stansted
to Casale with Ryanair. Brindisi continues to operate as usual with still increasing passenger numbers but Casale is already handling over 300,000 passengers just a couple of years after opening.
Where can I fly From to get to Casale Airport
Most of the major Italian cities have flights to Casale including Milan, Rome, Venice, Bologna and Bergamo. International flights operate from many European countries including France
, the UK
. Many of these flights are with budget airlines making it a cheap way to get to Brindisi.
What is the Airport Like?
It’s small but modern as befits a new airport. It’s been well designed with Schengen and non-Schengen lanes to speed up passenger processing. It doesn’t have air bridges to the planes so you have to walk to board but that’s not a long journey. There are public transport links to Brindisi but as a new airport the schedules aren’t fully embedded yet and you may find sometimes that the bus doesn’t turn up when expected. Taxis are an expensive option so the best bet is to pre-book a hire car for collection at Casale Airport which you know will be waiting for you when you arrive.
What are the Facilities Like at the Airport?
Whilst it is a small airport, facilities were put in place right from the outset to be more than adequate for the airport however large it grew. Tenders are still out for some of the retail outlets but there are a small number of shops, kiosks and a duty free outlet as well as a restaurant and a café after security. Wi-Fi is available at the airport as well as first aid. There’s currently no bank or exchange facility but you can use the ATMs and a postal facility exists for sending last minute postcards.
