Plymouth Airport Mini Guide
Why Would I Choose to fly to Plymouth Airport?
If you want to visit Devon or
Cornwall and are trying to avoid the heavy holiday traffic then flying into Plymouth is a good option. From there you can easily access all parts of both beautiful and popular counties with a hire car from the airport.
Where can I fly From to get to the Airport?
Many regional airports have flights into Plymouth. There are no international flights unless you count those from
Cork and
Dublin. Air Southwest is the main operator and classes itself as a budget airline.
What is the Airport Like?
It’s small as befits a regional airport but relatively modern inside. There’s plenty of parking there for the number of passengers and it has a small but adequate range of facilities. The airport is professionally run and has easy links to the resorts of Devon and Cornwall along the A38.
What do I do When I Arrive at the Airport?
Baggage collection is quick and easy. There are no security checks for domestic passengers so you should be out in less than 15 minutes from landing. There is a small airport information desk plus stands with leaflets for tourist attractions plus a notice board with adverts from local accommodation providers. Assistance for passengers with reduced mobility is available provided that 48 hours’ notice has been given.
What are the Facilities Like for Departing Passengers?
There is no duty free facility at the airport as it is very much a domestic airport. There is a small shop selling sweets, newspapers and tobacco products. If you are hungry at the airport, there’s a small café too offering a range of hot and cold snacks together with hot and cold drinks. Wi-Fi capability isn’t available at the airport.
