The Airport
Newcastle International Airport is in the village of Woolsington, 9.3km northwest of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England. It serves the counties of Northumberland and Tyneside as well as attracting passengers from Scotland and Northern England. The airport motto is ‘It’s a brand new world’.
How do I get There?
Scheduled flights connect Newcastle with
London and also hub airports in Europe and
Dubai, so most destinations are possible. Charter and budget airlines offer flights to most popular holiday resorts in Europe and North Africa, some of these routes are seasonal.
How do I get to the City?
The airport has its own metro station and every 12 minutes you can catch the metro into Newcastle or Sunderland. Journey times are 22 minutes into the city and 55 minutes to Sunderland. The X77,78 and 79 buses take you into the city via local villages. One of the easiest ways to get to the city is to drive using the A696 and A1 this would take about 15 minutes.
What’s at the Airport?
There are two hotels on-site should you require somewhere to stay nearby, the Britannia Airport Hotel and the Premier Inn. To exchange currency, there are Travelex outlets airside and landside, these also have ATMs. There is a leisure area called Game Grid, if gaming is your thing, whilst waiting for your flight. A fast track service is available through security, for a small fee, if you are pushed for time. If you have booked a Rhino hire car you will find the car hire desks on the ground floor opposite arrivals.
