Eastbourne Mini Guide
What can you Tell me About Eastbourne?
Eastbourne is often thought of as a retirement destination and whilst its demographics show a large proportion of the retired, the town and the surrounding region have plenty for all to enjoy. Never a hustling, bustling town, Eastbourne continues its sleepy but successful existence, ignorant of much of the economic devastation caused by the recession elsewhere.
How Easy is it to get to Eastbourne?
Gatwick Airport is under 45 minutes away and is a popular way for overseas travellers to get into Sussex. With flights from almost all parts of the world and a rail line that goes direct to Eastbourne, it makes sense to wait until you’re at your destination before hiring a car. Of course we can arrange cheap car hire at Gatwick Airport
if you want to collect a car as soon as you land and make your way to Eastbourne.
What is There to see and do in Eastbourne?
Everybody climbs up out of the town to see the heights of Beachy Head which looks out over the English Channel towards France
and is the start of the ninety mile South Downs Way.
The seafront of Eastbourne is home to the famous Carpet Gardens with thousands of bedding plants giving a wonderful coloured pattern to the area each summer. You’ll also find its quaint pier there with typically English amusements.
Not far from Eastbourne you’ll reach the Seven Sisters National Park, another wonderful and unspoilt piece of the southern English coastline.
- On the weekend of the 13th and 14th July Eastbourne is hosting an extreme sports event called Eastbourne Extreme. Over the course of the weekend you can try your hand at hang gliding in a simulator, rock climbing on a climbing wall and mountain biking around the town.
