Nashville Airport Mini Guide

What is Nashville all About?
Nashville, to many, is the very crucible of music. All country and western lovers, at some time in their lives will want to sit in a venue in downtown Nashville and listen to the languid sounds of their favourite music. These days Nashville isn’t just about country and western and other artists from different genres have come out of the city, notably, the Kings of Leon. Nashville has for a long time been the home of the Grand Ole Opry, a permanent venue for country and western artists. Fans of the music should also visit the Country Music Hall of Fame museum for an education in the genre. Downtown, you should also try to see the AT & T building and when you do, you’ll understand why it’s called the ‘batman building’.

How do I get to Nashville?
Nashville International Airport is found on the south eastern outskirts of the city and accepts flights from all over the US and international destinations including Toronto and Cancun. Travellers from outside the North American continent should first fly to New York or Chicago before connecting there for Nashville. Getting into Nashville’s centre is easy enough by bus, limousine, shuttle or taxi or if you want to experience more of the city - hire a car.

What is the Airport Like?
It’s big and modern with only one terminal building but with three concourses currently operational. The terminal building was replaced in 1987 and now offers a bright, clean airport environment. The terminal is on three levels with ticketing, restaurants, shops and gates on the top level, information and baggage reclaim on the middle level and ground transportation found on the lower level.

What can I Expect When I Arrive at Nashville?
You’ll find that you are swiftly offloaded from the plane onto one of the concourses before heading down to security if you’ve come in from abroad. Once through security you’ll have to find your reclaim belt number from the screens before going down a level to collect your bags. In the centre of the belt area you’ll find airport information should you need assistance. From there you need to drop a level again to find the car rental desks and the public transport to your accommodation. For cash withdrawals you’ll find an ATM should you need it and an information desk about the area which is known to locals as ‘Opryland’.

What Will my Experience be Like of Departing From Nashville?
Once you’ve checked in on the third floor and got your boarding passes you’ll find all the shops and restaurants on this same level. There are many shopping experiences to be had there and most of them quite unique. There are golf accessories and apparel, American Indian jewellery, clothing, a Harley Davidson outlet and Nashvillle Star accessories linked to the TV talent show. There are over a dozen eating places for when you’ve got an appetite, one of the most interesting being a lounge bar where local country and western talents will entertain you whilst you eat a meal from either Swett’s or Whitt’s which offer delicious home-made meals.
