Houston is the largest city in Texas
, and the fourth largest in the United States. It is not only huge in size but also population. With approximately 596 square miles to explore, this city has many attractions to offer visitors. Houston is a multicultural city with Asian, Arab and Latin Americans residing within it and these varied cultures offer a different slant to a great city.
The city has nine districts formally known as Wards, with Downtown being in the centre of the city. Downtown is home to high finance and big business and is only second to New York
City. It is also home to the second largest theatre district in the United States.
To the south you have the Med Centre and Rice where you will find Hermann Park and all its attractions along with Rice Village where you will find many bars and restaurants. Uptown also known as The Galleria Area is to the west of the city centre which has a huge shopping mall complex and a vibrant nightlife.
The Warehouse district, once an industrial zone, is home to many trend setters and offers some very good places to eat and dance the night away. Montrose is host to the city's museums and an array of shopping for every taste. River Oaks is an exclusive area as you will see from the art deco style mansions owned by its affluent residents. Midtown, redeveloped in the 1990’s, offers many bars and a vibrant nightclubs.
The Heights, is home to a diverse population and has many restaurants where customers can take their own wine, which many people prefer. Southwest Houston and New Chinatown, both located to the south west of the city also have a lot to offer and are well worth a visit.
Houston has two major airports; the first is George Bush Intercontinental, located around 25 miles out of downtown, the largest of the pair serving 24 international and domestic airlines. William P Hobby is 7 miles south of downtown and serves 4 major airlines.
