The airport has mostly domestic flights arriving from other areas of Turkey. It is possible to fly from
Germany and Central Asia. Currently 15 airlines fly into Trabzon Airport.
What Facilities Does the Airport Have?
It is a small airport with basic facilities and friendly staff. There is one hall for departures and one for arrivals. A duty free shop is available, should you wish to buy alcohol or perfume.
How can I get to the Town?
Taxis are available from outside the terminal building if you have not pre-booked a hire car.
What Can I do There?
In the town centre, the Meydan Square is a good starting point. You can stop at one of the coffee shops and go bargain hunting in the bazaar. For a little culture, visit Aya Sofia Church and Museum or the Ataturk Pavillion.
Where can I Stay in Trabzon?
There are a few options for accommodation in Trabzon. The Mora Hotel is a small friendly hotel with 46 rooms with free Wi-Fi and is 8km from the town. It has its own outside swimming pool and nightclub for you to use and you can enjoy the sea views and walking trails nearby. Fresh fish and Turkish dishes are featured on the menu at the hotel restaurant. The 4 star Novotel Trabzon is closer to the town and overlooks the Black Sea. There is a shuttle bus service available from the Novotel to the airport and Trabzon shopping centre.
What can I see in the Area?
If you have a car, why not visit Uzengal? It is a beautiful valley with pine tree covered mountains and a lake. You could stop there a night or two to explore the area more fully, there are wooden chalets you can stay in and gardens and restaurants.
