Thailand Mini Guide
Thailand is a massive and diverse country located in South East Asia which has coasts with the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. Travellers flock to Thailand for the cheap prices, opportunities for adventure and incredible beaches, while the food here is so fantastic that it has been exported all around the world.
Visitors are sure be astounded by the friendliness of the Thai people, though this has a flip side. People often go to Thailand in search of cheap drugs and sex and if this is not what you are looking for there are many places to be avoided. However it remains an extraordinarily safe place to visit.
Thailand is divided up into five main areas. They are central Thailand in which you can find its capital
Bangkok, historical Thailand and the lowlands. The North includes
Chiang Mai, the hill tribes and the Golden Triangle. Isaan is in the north east which is undeveloped, and the Eastern beaches and islands are within easy reach of Bangkok, and the vast southern coastline. Another idyllic place to find great beaches is the southern islands of Phuket, Krabi, Ko Samui and Kao Tao. Within the 76 provinces of Thailand there are many other cities including Pattaya, Hat Yak, Ayutthaya, Chafing Ray, Kanchanaburi, Nakon Ratchasima, Sukhothai and Surat Thani.
Thailand is tropical and the best time of year to visit is between November and February when it is relatively cool. If you are in desperate need of the heat, the months between March and June can be sweltering and perfect for sitting on the beach. The rest of the year is monsoon season which can mean non stop rain and flooding. Mosquitoes will also be most prevalent at this time so make sure you take adequate protection.
