Back on dry land, visit the Cultural House for the museum and artworks or go shopping - the town has 525 shops and one of the oldest shopping malls in the world! Take a drive out to Gammelstad, it is an old church town with 400 cottages and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

- The groundbreaking ceremony has recently taken place at Lulea Airport in readiness for the planned terminal expansion that should be completed by early 2013. Later work in phase two of the plans would see adaptations made so larger international aircraft can be accommodated.
