Where is Borlange?
Borlange is a town in Dalarma, Sweden. It is an industrial town with paper mills and iron works and a modern town centre. For 9 months of the year the temperature never goes above 10C.
How Would I get There?
If you have travelled from an international destination, you will probably find yourself at
Stockholm-Arlanda Airport and you can take a connecting flight to Dala Airport. From there it is a 20 minute drive to the town with your hire car or you can take a taxi. You can also get to Borlange by using the SJ train service or Swebus, these are available from many cities in Sweden. The town has a bus network for you to get around during your stay, if you don’t have a car.
What is There to do in Borlange?
To see how people used to live in the town, you can visit the Stora Hyttnas house and museum or step forward in time, at the Future’s Museum – discover the latest in science and visit the 2nd largest planetarium in Sweden, Kosmorama. The town has a medieval cathedral Dalecarlia or Stora Tuna as it is also known, which was built in 1469. This being such a modern town, the heart of it is now at Kupolen Shopping Centre, which has over 80 shops and cafes.
Should I Explore the Area?
Most definitely! The Dalarna area has much to offer. Take a guided tour of the copper mine at Falu Koppar Gruva in Falun and visit the residence of famous artist Carl Larsson with its gardens and art gallery – there you can see where Scandinavian design started. For a quiet day out, drive out to Lake Runn and go fishing or take a relaxing boat trip. If you are feeling adventurous go the Romme Alpine Ski Resort just 10 km out of town.
Where Can I Stay?
The Quality Hotel Galaxen is in the centre of town and close to the shopping centre and attractions. The hotel has modern rooms and guests have access to the top floor spa and leisure centre. There is a bar which regularly hosts sporting events on plasma screens or you can choose to dine at Mathornan Restaurant or Restaurant Store Bjorn, which has a dance floor and live music.

The Peace and Love Festival held in June annually, is Sweden’s biggest festival and celebrates diversity and understanding
18/05/12 - Over the weekend of the 11th and 12th August, the city is organising 'Runn Days' where on Lake Runn, there'll be a whole host of water based activities all the members of your family can try for free. The event aims to introduce people to new sports they may not have thought about experiencing in the past.
