Isla Canela Mini Guide
Isla Canela has enough sandy beaches that you shouldn’t have to worry about finding your place in the sun. It is situated south of the small fishing town of Ayamonte, next to the mouth of the Guadiana River and is a very short distance from the Portuguese Algarve
This small island on the Andalucian coast of southern Spain has been purpose built with every convenience necessary for people who are looking for total relaxation on their holiday. There are bars and shops around the marina, chic restaurants, an 18 hole golf course and a yacht club where you can rent any possible paraphernalia to go with water sports such as jet skiing, surfing, snorkelling and canoeing.
Sports lovers are well attended to as there is a golf shop to stock up on supplies, a golf school to get into the swing of things, swimming pools and even two bowling greens. The golf course is an extremely beautiful place to spend the day as it has all the natural flora of the area such as orange and olive trees, palms and eucalyptus trees.
For those who are curious about the religious life of the area, during June 13 -15 Ayamonte expects thousands of pilgrims who journey to see the Virgin Fatima.
Other opportunities to get out of the resort include heading to an adventure park in Seville
for the day or going on a jeep safari.
Isla Canela is a great place to go whether you are a couple or a whole family and there are a number of hotels to stay in which cater to all your needs. Try Isla Barcelo which does all inclusive buffet meals with full breakfasts and a great variety of fish as well as other local delicacies for lunches and dinners. Rooms in the Barcelo and other hotels such as Playacanela are usually between 80 and 100 Euros per night, and most of them have pool access.
If you want to take a real Spanish holiday along with Spanish holiday makers, Isla Canela is one of the best options in Spain. To get there rent a car from Huelva
or Seville; it is not a long drive and that gives you the opportunity to visit other parts of the Costa de la Luz. You can even fly into Portugal’s Faro Airport
