Krasnodar Airport Mini Guide
What Kind of Traveller Flies to Krasnodar Airport?
The city is known as the best one for business in Southern Russia according to Forbes Magazine and whilst 40% of its economy is built on agriculture, there is a wide range of industry that makes the city a powerhouse of the southern Russian economy. For this reason, many of the travellers there are business people flying in to meet clients or seal contracts.
How Easy is it to get to Krasnodar?
Unless you’re prepared to connect at some unusual hub airports, you’ll find it quite hard to get to Krasnodar. Hubs including Moscow, St Petersburg and Kiev are more obvious choices but by flying with easyJet to Istanbul you can connect there. Once at the airport, it’s only a ten minute drive by hire car to the city centre.
What is the Airport Like?
The airport is large and with plenty of facilities to be able to cope with the large numbers of passengers that move through it. It’s able to handle 500 domestic passengers an hour at the same time as 200 international passengers. Whilst it is nearing capacity, it handles the traffic quickly and efficiently and so there are few delays.
What are the Facilities Like at the Airport?
Actually, they’re very good for it has a wide range of restaurants including barbecue, pizzeria, traditional Russian, a bistro and a creperie. These outlets are complemented by an extensive range of shops, admittedly mainly Russian brands, but you’ll certainly find enough to keep you occupied during the wait before your flight. Fur, jewellery, ceramics and a duty free make up the product range. Other facilities include banks, a pharmacy, executive lounges and facilities for mothers with small children.
- Many new routes begin operating to Domodedovo this summer from around Europe continuing to increase passenger numbers at the airport. Concourse extensions are being prepared to cope with the increased footfall and should come online later this year and in 2013.
