Bucharest Banease Airport Mini Guide
What can you Tell me About Baneasa Airport?
Baneasa was Bucharest’s second busiest airport and was the main budget airline airport in Romania. In March 2012 it was decided to rationalize all the airports in Romania and Baneasa turned into an airport handling only business jets. There are no charter or scheduled flights to Baneasa but it has full facilities to support business leaders.
What is Bucharest Like?
Despite the attempts of Romania’s despotic leader Nicolai Ceausescu to raze most of old Bucharest, much of the old town still survives. It’s an atmospheric place crammed with the houses of the 19th century gentry and the palaces of the Wallachian princes.
Pride of place in the country is the Presidential Palace, currently the second largest building in the world behind the Pentagon. At night, it’s often lit up with a fabulous AV show.
The best way to get an overview of the city is to take a guided walking tour of the city. These are very cheap, take around two hours and start at various times during the day. Follow it up by revisiting the places you liked.
Getting into Baneasa Airport
You’ll only get to this airport if you have a private plane for since the spring of 2012, it only accepts private business traffic offering a comprehensive set of facilities to make your life in the city run very smoothly.
