Mini Guide to Monterrey
Why Should I fly to Monterrey Airport?
Monterrey Airport serves Mexico’s fabulous third city. It’s big on industry which seems to hide its charms. The city has many attractive old colonial parts from its founding in the late 16th century and its wealth over the centuries enabled it to develop many cultural attractions including art galleries, museums and theatres which still put on world class entertainment today.
Monterrey isn’t just about stuffy culture. There’s a lot for the adrenaline junkie to do including climbing in the mountains that surround the city, bungee jumping at the ecological park and a Sesame Street theme park to entertain the children.
How Easy is it to get to Monterrey?
There are plenty of flights from North America catering for tourists who want something a little different to the hedonistic pleasures of Mexico’s beach resorts. Travellers from outside the US
generally will have to make a connection within the US with Houston
being popular hubs on account of their accessibility and cost.
What is Monterrey Airport Like?
Monterrey Airport is considered to be one of the best in North America. It’s divided into three terminals with Terminal B only opening eighteen months ago and able to handle two million passengers by itself. The main terminal is huge too and connects to the others by concourses. It’s where many of the airport facilities are found including an extensive food court with fast food outlets, coffee shops, good Mexican and international restaurants and an ice cream vendor. Shops are found on two levels with a wide range of goods including fashion, books, travel essentials and a pharmacy. Banking needs are covered with a full branch of a bank plus currency exchange facilities and ATMs. Wi-Fi is available across the airport and there are several business and VIP lounges.
