Nagoya Airport (Chubu International) Mini Guide
Who Flies to Chubu Centrair International Airport?
It’s mainly business travellers, although the city is beginning a campaign to try to bring tourism to Nagoya. Whilst it’s mainly about motor manufacture and other manufacturing industries, there’s a great museum detailing the rise of Japan’s industry as well as several art galleries and a rebuilt castle, also having a museum documenting the history of the previous one that was destroyed in the Second World War.
How Easy is it to get to Chubu Centrair International Airport?
From outside Asia it’s not that easy to get to Chubu Centrair International Airport and only Frankfurt in Europe and Detroit in the US have direct flights. Frankfurt is an easy hub to reach from the UK, so the journey, whilst inconvenient, isn’t overly onerous.
What is the Airport Like?
There’s a single terminal with arrivals on the second floor and departures on the third. On the fourth floor is the Sky Town Shopping centre which is open to the general public too. Featuring over sixty shops and restaurants, you’ll find everything you need for your flight and gifts for family and friends back home.
In the departures lounge you’ll find another restaurant with quick and easy food, much of it Japanese in nature, and a duty free shop plus a kiosk for last minute reading material and snacks. In the arrivals area there’s a bank and currency exchange facilities and if you can’t wait; some ATMs dispense quick cash.
