Friedrichshafen Airport Mini Guide

What Kind of Travellers Choose to fly to Friedrichshafen Airport?
It’s mainly tourists that make the journey to Friedrichshafen Airport with almost all the flights being seasonal charter flights. People are drawn to the Bodensee area by the clean fresh air, the beautiful scenery and countless attractive medieval towns and villages that make for great places to stay. Whilst flights arrive at Friedrichshafen Airport from all over Europe and some North African and Middle Eastern destinations, there’s only one flight to Friedrichshafen Airport from the UK; an Aer Lingus flight from London Gatwick. No budget airlines operate there with the exception of Germanwings.

What is Friedrichshafen Airport Like?
The airport, which also goes by the name of Bodensee Airport is found very close to the German city of Friedrichshafen and is the third biggest airport in the region of Baden-Wurttemberg. It is nearly a century old, making it one of the oldest airports in Germany and was originally designed for airships. It’s a bit of a blocky design and not what would be called an attractive building but it has been upgraded and renovated over the decades and is a modern, efficient airport. Friedrichshafen Airport also offers sightseeing flights in planes, helicopters or more excitingly, in an airship, recalling the glory days of zeppelins.
