Getting There
66 airlines, international scheduled and domestic, use the airport, some of which are seasonal. Air Berlin is the main operator with Turkish Airlines being the main international operator with regular routes to Istanbul, Antalya and Izmir. There are several flights with different carriers to UK airports.

How do I Get to my Destination From the Airport?
The airport has its own station, offsite, but with a Sky Train connection. There is also an S-Bahn stop at the airport linking to the city’s system. 350 trains depart daily from the station to various destinations across Germany.

The main bus station is found immediately outside the arrivals central area and also at the railway station. Taxis are plentiful at the airport and will take you to your destination in comfort. If you’ve hired a car for collection at the airport, send a member of your group through to queue or you may be waiting a long time after reclaiming your luggage. Exiting the airport is easy on the spur of the A44 which in turn leads to the A52, A57 and A3 for rapid connections to other German cities.

Are There Information Desks if I Need Help?
There are three airport information desks; one in arrivals opposite Café B2B, the second in the railway station and the third by baggage reclaim 6 in the arrivals hall. The desk is manned from early morning until the last flight departs and offers advice on onward journeys, sells S-Bahn tickets and advises on local accommodation.

Facilities Available
There are two branches of ReiseBank in the departure terminal and a branch of Stadt-Sparkasse in the arrivals hall. There are many ATMs spread throughout the terminal.  If you suffer a mishap during your flight, first aid help is available upon landing in the medical room off the public arrivals area. Free Wi-Fi is available across the airport as well as internet kiosks for those without a laptop.

Anything to do with clothing, fashion or accessories can be purchased here. There are numerous gift shops too selling a wide range of items. Finally, there’s the main duty free shop with its range of alcoholic products, tobacco items, perfumery and gifts.

Hunger Pangs?
Eating at Dusseldorf can be a wonderful experience. Some top class restaurants are represented in the airport such as Anadolu, serving Turkish and Anatolian cuisine, Kamps Snacks, Restaurant ARK serving Rhenish specialities and the Loreley Bistro serving great light meals. Of course there are the ubiquitous coffee shops and fast food joints but why not splash out and have a meal to remember?

Dusseldorf Airport is found right in the middle of the most populated area of Germany so if you’re coming to Germany to visit the city itself or Essen, Duisberg, Krefeld or Wuppertal, the chances are that you’ll arrive there.

These cities are part of a highly industrialised and commercial region and if you’re there on business, a hire car will be essential in getting you to your destination quickly. The city is also the centre of the German fashion industry and it’s interesting to take a look at some of the German fashion outlets whilst visiting.
