Rijeka Airport Mini Guide
Where is Rijeka Airport?
Rijeka Airport is located near the town of Omisalj, on the island of Krk in Croatia. The airport is 17km from the town of Rijeka.
How to get There
The airport is primarily used during the summer by low cost airlines, although there are a few scheduled flights too. It is easiest to fly from Germany
and Scandinavia, but there are a few flights from the UK
and Eastern Europe too.
How do I get From the Airport to the Town?
There is a bus service from the airport that will take you into Rijeka. Taxis are also available. If you have hired a car you can drive into the town using the routes 102 and 5060.
What’s at the Airport for me?
Rijeka Airport is small but has the basics. There is an information desk in the terminal if you need any assistance at the airport and you will find the car hire desks nearby in arrivals. There is a restaurant and bar if you get a little hungry or thirsty. For your duty free shopping head to RPL, where you will find special offers on international and Croatian brands.
Where can I Stay Nearby?
The Hotel Adriatic is one of the closest hotels to the airport, just 1.5 km away. It has 78 rooms and is 50 metres from the sea. You can eat at the hotel restaurant or enjoy a drink at the bar. Wi-Fi is available for free in public areas of the hotel and you can buy your souvenirs at the hotel’s gift shop.
I Have Extra Time, What can I see in Rijeka?
Rijeka is a port town, so it’s probably best to head for Korzo (the pedestrianised area) - stop at a coffee shop there and watch the world go by. Take a look at the National Theatre building or visit the Maritime Museum and if you are feeling energetic climb the steps up to Trsat and see the fortress and churches.
- Despite traffic being less than half it was at the airport's peak, many new routes introduced this year will add considerably to the airport's passenger numbers. Barcelona, Berlin, London Stansted, Oslo, Stuttgart and Moscow are among the new routes beginning this summer.
