Larnaca International Airport is located 4 km away from the seaside resort of Larnaca in Cyprus. It is the international gateway for the island and has one terminal plus a second VIP terminal. Over five million holidaymakers pass through the airport every year. It was a hastily built airport after the 1974 Turkish invasion but was rebuilt in 2008 and is now a thoroughly modern airport for the 21st century.
How can I Fly There?
At the present time, 55 airlines fly into Larnaca Airport from destinations in the Middle East and Europe. Some of these routes are seasonal only.
How do I get to my Resort?
There is no public transport as such, at the airport although shuttle buses run regularly to Nicosia and Limassol from the airport. You can book a private shuttle bus to Larnaca or Limassol with Limassol Airport Express or Kapnos Airport Shuttle if you wish to go to Nicosia. Taxis are always available but can be expensive. The best option is to hire a car for your transfer and then to explore the island. Driving is on the left hand side and the roads are mostly quiet. There is only one highway on the island that connects the major resorts and the capital, Nicosia.

The Bank of Cyprus has a branch at the airport and there are ATMs and currency exchange facilities too. If you need to check on emails, there are internet stations available or you can use the free Wi-Fi service. Information desks are situated in the check-in area and departures, if you need any help at the airport. The Cyprus Airways Executive Lounge is open to all passengers travelling business class or as part of a privilege scheme. In arrivals, you will find the Cyprus Tourism Organisation Office where you can pick up maps and brochures and ask questions about the island and its attractions. If you have hired a car you will find the car rental desks just after arrivals.

There are 19 outlets that you can eat at or just grab a snack. Most of these are in the Food Court, where you can eat local dishes or have Asian food wok fried in front of you. You can also get a slice of pizza or freshly made sandwiches and smoothies. There is a salad bar too and a selection of pre-packed sandwiches and salads if you have to grab and go. There is a Burger King if you like fast food and there are a number of coffee shops to choose from. Atrium serves drinks and light meals such as quiche with salad or chicken wrap.

There are lots of outlets hidden away in the Cyprus Airports Duty Free area. The cosmetics section has Mac and Kiehls counters as well as all the regular names like Clarins and Chanel. In the jewellery section you can find brands such as Pandora and Swarovski. There are also outlets selling everything from watches and clothing to toys and electronics. – The civil aviation department has asked people to refrain from flying kites near to Larnaca airport next Monday. Kites will be flying around the city to mark Green Monday – the start of the Greek Orthodox, however care needs to be taken close to the airports.
- Having just agreed a deal with Paphos Airport to increase the number of routes, Ryanair are now in talks with Larnaca Airport, their first home in Cyprus to do the same. It should see reduced price flights become available from the aiport to destinations across Europe.
- The extension to the new terminal will open later this year increasing handling capacity to 9m passengers a year whilst this capacity will be partly filled by new flights from East Midlands with Jet2 and Leeds Bradford with Monarch.
