Kelowna International Airport is located 11.5 km north of the town of Kelowna in British Columbia, Canada.
How can I get There?
There are up to 36 departures a day at Kelowna Airport and it is one of the busiest airports in Canada. There are 6 domestic destinations within Canada and 5 international destinations in the USA and Mexico.
How do I get to the Town?
If you have hired a car you will find the car hire desks in arrivals. It’s an easy 10 minute drive into the town, using highway 97. You can book a shuttle bus service to your accommodation or use Kelowna Regional Transit bus service from the airport into the city, if you don’t want to drive.
What’s at the Airport for me?
There is an observation area on the mezzanine level, so you can watch the planes whilst you wait. The focal point of the airport is the glass rotunda which has a fountain inside and a glass sculpture. If you need to use the internet, you can do so at stations in the terminal or at the business centre. An ATM is available if you need some more dollars. Feeling peckish? If it is a coffee and cake moment go to Tim Horton’s or for salads and quiche visit Skyways Café and Bar. Alternatively, White Spot Legends Restaurant and Lounge offers an international full service menu.
If you need some last minute souvenirs go to Gifts of the Okanagan or try the 15$ Store for gifts and accessories. There is a Skyway news stand and a small duty free shop too. Visit the Okanagan Estate Wine Cellar, for a chance to try before you a buy, a wide selection of local and regional wines.
Where can I Stay Nearby?
You can stay at the 3 star Borgata Lodge. It is a Tuscan style lodge on the shores of Lake Els and has views of the Okanagan Valley. Each of the 30 rooms has facilities for cooking and laundry as well as free Wi-Fi. The lodge is just 2 km from the airport. There is a day spa on-site as well as a restaurant and pizza shop.
What can I do in Kelowna?
Kelowna is a scenic town, next to Lake Okanagan. It is well known for its farmers markets and thriving arts scene and for a day shopping you can go to Orchard Park Mall. There are award winning estate wineries close by, so you should stop buy for a tasting. The area is also famous for the Big White, the 2nd largest ski resort in Canada. You can go snowboarding or skiing or take a cross country trail – the resort is 56km away from the city and there are shuttles services available. If golf is more your style, the area has a selection of championship golf courses for you to choose from.
