Genk Mini Guide

About The City
Genk is situated on the Albert Canal, halfway between Liege and Antwerp, in the province of Limburg. Although it was a village of Celtic origin, in the 19th century it was the home of artists and writers. By the 20th century, coal had been discovered and the mining industry developed. Later, when the mines closed, car manufacturing took over as the main industry. Today, Genk is still an industrial centre and is well known for being friendly and multicultural.
