How do I get There?
There are currently 17 airlines flying into Cairns, most of these routes are within Australia but there are also flights from New Zealand and Asia.
Can I get to the City Easily?
Sun Palm Transfers Group operates a shuttle bus service to the city and local resorts and they pick up from just outside the terminal building. Taxis are also available. If you have hired a car, you will find the car rental offices in arrivals, in both terminals.
What’s at the Airport for me?
If you need to change your dollars or euros, head to International Currency Exchange, they have branches in both terminals. The Qantas Lounge is available to business class passengers - you can catch up there on work or just relax in comfort with a drink and a light snack. In both terminals you will find Hub convenience store for any last minute purchases and Newslink for all your books and magazines.
What if I am Hungry?
You can find a variety of food and drink outlets at the airport, what ever your taste. Go to Tropics Food Court and take your pick, you can have sushi or coffee and a cake or for fast food have a burger at Hungry Jacks.
I Forgot to buy Gifts!
Not a problem, as there are plenty of outlets selling locally made items, take a look at Ampiji or Purely Australian. You could also buy a bikini or surf shorts at Beach Culture or something tasty at Produce of Australia. The airport authority have just announced more shops to be opened at the airport and tenders are out for take up. The increase is expected to double the amount of shopping outlets at the airport.
Where can I Stay?
The 4 star Mercure Hotel Harbourside Cairns is 3.5km from the airport on the esplanade in Trinity Bay. You can relax and enjoy the pool and gardens or take their shuttle bus into the city. Later, eat an Asian inspired meal on the pool terrace at Teshi’s Restaurant and have a cocktail at Blue Mango Bar.
- The flights from Cairns to Auckland have proved so popular that more flights are being laid on. Air New Zealand and Jetstar will share the extra flights.
