International Sea Festival Limassol
Limassol will be placed in the spotlight with the first international sea festival opening in the town for a month long event from 21 September until October 30. It is a great opportunity to promote Limassol, which has always been a coastal, tourist city with a rich maritime history and tradition since antiquity. The festival will open with a series of events including a concert entitled `Sea kissed Cyprus` with artists Despina Olympiou, Micahlis Hadjimichael and the participation of the Admitos Pitsilides music group, at the Limassol pier.
The opening will include an international photographic exhibition on the sea wall, titled World of the Sea. There will also be a presentation of the maritime tradition of Cyprus and evening documentaries about the sea on the sea wall. The festival will also include a photographic exhibition in the Limassol Mediaeval Castle area titled `Waves of Cyprus` with the participation of 14 Cypriot photographers. A series of prize winning documentaries on the marine environment will be shown at the Evagoras and Cathleen Lanitis Centre.
The festival will end on October 30 with a music and dance evening. Entrance to the events of the festival is free.
