Travelling with kids has many challenges, from keeping them entertained in the car on the way to the airport, right through to the flight itself and various queues in and around the airport at both ends of the trip.

Ironically, whilst travelling to Dublin on business recently (without the children) I noticed a new addition to Terminal 2 in the shape of ‘Courtesy Strollers’. For anyone who has flown from Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport, particularly with the terminals primary airline, Ryanair, you’ll be fully aware of the mini-marathon from the main terminal to the boarding gate itself. It can easily be a 5 minute walk for an adult, so throw a small child (or 2, or 3) into the mix and it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that you could miss your flight!
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Dublin Airport had recognised this issue with the ‘courtesy stroller’ idea. Fantastic. There is a main collection point as soon as you start your journey to the gates and various ‘stroller drop off’ points at locations along the terminal by the boarding gates. We saw a few in use with various kids (and some bigger kids) taking advantage of the free ride.
For anyone that has flown with kids recently, this really is a great idea and saves you taking your own stroller to the gate which can be frustrating and the kids get a free ride. What a great idea from Dublin Airport, now all us parents need is for other airports to adopt the idea for when we get to the other end!
From a parent of 2 young children and frequent flier,
Dublin Airport, thank you!
