Biometric Passport Needed To Enter USA - Is your Passport up to Date?

Are you aware that if your passport was issued between April and October 2006 you may not be able to travel to America?

Passports issued between April and October 2006 do not contain a digital chip containing biometric information about the passport owner and this is now required for all travellers wishing to visit the US.

Many have said these new rules are too strict and there have been worries that some will not be able to travel to America as planned this summer. However the reality is that very few UK residents will be affected by this new change, especially if we take into account the fact that it has always been a requisite to have at least 6 months left on your passport before entering the United States.

The best advice is to check your passport; if it was issued after 2006 then you’ll be fine. If not, update your passport. The key is that the passport must contain a biometric chip as shown in the picture below (old style passport under new biometric issue)
