Rugby 2015 World Cup - Travel Plans and Car Hire

It may not have the kudos of the FIFA World Cup in football or the Olympics but sandwiched between the next two of those events is the Rugby World Cup in 2015.

Now you might think it’s a long way off and the hype is only just beginning but if you’re thinking of spending some time at the matches and even spending a little more time in the host towns and cities, you need to act now.
England Rubgy 2015
The best and the cheapest hotels in London that were ideally placed for the Olympics sold out over a year before the event and hotels reported bookings up 60% on the normal level two years before the event – that should go to show that you need to book early.

Accommodation will become even more of a premium with Visit England hoping to promote each of the venues as a place to spend the summer holidays.

Three of the venues will be in London with the Olympic Stadium, Wembley and Twickenham all featuring. As you’d expect, Twickenham will host the key matches; the opener, two quarter finals, the semis and the final. The other two quarter finals will be played at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Other cities involved include Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds, Leicester, Birmingham, Gloucester, Milton Keynes, Brighton and Exeter.

The venues have been chosen to allow as many people as possible to access some of the games and all of them have something to offer partners and family members who travel with fans but who want something different.

Car hire is also likely to be a key factor in people’s travel plans for although many of these venues have excellent public transport links between them, locally, a rental car will be an essential way of getting around. Leaving car hire to the last minute often proves frustrating and costly so, if you’re planning a trip to one or more matches, pre-book well in advance to get the biggest choice and lowest prices. Hire cars can also be dropped off in different venues so if you’re thinking of arriving at Manchester Airport for the games up north, you can use it to drive down to London for the later fixtures and hand the car back at Heathrow Airport or any other London Airport for that matter when you leave.

Take a look at the Visit England website to see what else you can do when staying near the venues and check out our webpages for the host cities to find the best and cheapest car hire for your stay.
