Customer questions about Algeria car hire

Hell, my plane will land at 13.30 but for any problem I will book the car 14.30

Hello, that is not a problem, however so long as you state your flight number when prompted, the rental agent will track any delays and ensure the car is ready for when you arrive. It should take more than 30-60 minutues to get through security and collect your luggage.

Algeria Mini Guide

What Should I Know About Algeria Before I Travel?
Algeria is the largest African nation by land area and the tenth largest in the world. Signs of habitation date from over 10,000 years ago and the country has since been ruled by the Berbers, the Greeks, Romans, Moors, Ottomans and French. In more recent times, independence from the French caused teething problems for the new state followed by the country’s involvement in the ‘Arab Spring’ in 2011. Today the country has stabilised with promises of more even distribution of the country’s huge wealth earned from the massive petrochemical industry.

What’s the Easiest way to get to Algeria?
There are two direct flights to Algiers Airport daily; one from London Heathrow with Air Algerie and one from London Gatwick with BA. Both these carriers are notoriously expensive and if you have the time and the inclination you can fly with a budget airline to Barcelona and then take a shorter distance, much cheaper flight with Air Algerie from there. It’s ten miles into the city centre and this can be ten miles of frustration waiting for an unreliable bus which stops everywhere or arguing over the extortionate cost of a taxi ride into the centre. For car hire Algiers Airport has a good variety and offers a good option to get into the city and beyond.

What Should I Spend my Time Doing in Algeria?
Algeria is crammed with ruins from classical times with remains from many of the great civilisations including the Romans, Phoenicians and Greeks. Many of the sites are almost untouched and even if history isn’t your thing the ruins at Timgad, Hippo Regius and Tipasa are worth several hours of your time, especially when you can catch the deep red North African sunset behind the ruins. There are plentiful fantastic beaches on the north coast, all untouched by commercialism and offering relaxing conditions in which to spend a day with mostly local people. In the south of the country, huge mountains border the Sahara and Tamanrasset is a fascinating if somewhat edgy place to see the life of the desert people. Using car hire Algiers is easy to explore, we recommend you plan your routes ahead to make the most of your time as the road network can be tricky navigate at times.
And After the Sun Goes Down?
As a Muslim country, don’t expect wild parties or bars and clubs. Alcohol is often frowned upon and where it is sold, the atmosphere is so dry you’ll wish you hadn’t bothered. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants in the country and Algerian food is renowned as one of the best of the North African cuisine and has a tangible French influence. Most evenings will be spent in a hotel bar, at a restaurant or simply enjoying coffee or sherbets in local cafes.
