Parking for Car Hire vehicles is always readily available at Airports both for pickup and drop off purposes.  The majority of Airports are open 24 hours although the rental desk may not be, so often provided for your ease of drop off will be deposit boxes in which you can deposit your car keys after parking in the car hire car parks which are normally just outside of the terminal buildings.

Car Insurance such as Collision Damage Waiver, Theft, Third Party etc. is always included in your car hire rate but if you should need to make a claim you will often have to pay the excess as quoted on your car hire terms and conditions.  One way to avoid paying any excess is to take out the optional insurance which will cover this in the event of a claim, unless of course you did not adhere to the usual Insurance Conditions for example were found to be drink driving etc.  It is well worth paying the extra few pounds a day to ensure you will not incur any hefty excess charges.

There is a vast range of Car Insurance Policies for your own personal vehicle and it is well worth shopping around to get the best deal.  Make sure you are aware of the process etc. if you wish to take your car abroad via ferry etc., as sometimes you need to get permission from your Insurance Company.  Also it is worth thinking about taking out breakdown cover so that you can get assist both in your home country or abroad.  Companies now offer No Claims Protections Bonuses as well which are really good if you have collected a good no claims discount over the years.  If over 50 if it worth checking out Insurance Policies specifically aimed at this age group as substantial discounts are often given.

Also make sure you check out the luggage allowance applicable to your flight operator as these tend to vary, for example flights to the United States from the UK normally offer a much more generous allowance to flights to Europe.  Some flight operators such as Tompson have introduced in 2009 a complimentary baggage allowance for babies/toddlers under the age of two who travel free, this is great news as we all know that when taking a baby abroad their clothes and requirements nearly take up all of your allowance!  Also normally pushchairs are not charged to be carried, you will need to check out the individual operators terms of carriage for items such as skis, snow boarding, bicycle's etc.
