Partnership Struck between Ryanair and Hertz

4/15/2009
A partnership has been struck up between low cost airline Ryanair and car rental firm Hertz.

The deal, which is effective from now until 2014, means that Ryanair passengers can access good Hertz car rental bargains with each flight.

The number of Ryanair passengers who have gone on to rent Hertz vehicles over the last four years has increased by 70% according to a Ryanair spokesman.

Michael Cawley said: “Ryanair has been rapidly increasing our passenger traffic by keeping our prices as low as possible and getting rid of fuel surcharges.

“We are very glad to announce that our expansion has also created business for Hertz which has had 70% of growth in Ryanair car rental over the last four years or so.

“Our partnership has meant that Ryanair passengers can access Hertz’s discount car rental and we think that millions more Ryanair customers will use Hertz car hire in the future when they fly with us on our low cost flights.”

Michel Taride, President of Hertz Europe, said: “Hertz and Ryanair are united in the goal of trying to create an unparalleled flying experience that offers superior access, flexibility and value.

“As leading providers of car hire and air travel, the partnership between Hertz and Ryanair offers travellers choice and convenience at more than 200 major airports right across the whole of Europe.”

In other news the bankruptcy of the Advantage Rental and Leasing car hire company may impact Hyundai Motor Finance.

Advantage Rental and Leasing is thought to currently owe the US company Hyundai Motor Finance around $14 million.

This money will be lost by Hyundai Motor Finance if Advantage Rental and Leasing successfully files for bankruptcy as Hyundai is not believed to have secured collateral for its loans. The loans were given to Advantage Rental and Leasing in February and later August of 2008.
