A recent survey has found Greece to be the most expensive car hire location in Europe.

5/28/2009

The survey was based on hiring a Renault Clio with four doors and air conditioning in the first week of August. It found that while cheap car hire destinations were Turkey, Croatia and Bulgaria, the most expensive locations included Greece Car Hire, the Balearic Islands, Portugal and Spain.

Commenting on the survey, car hire expert Sophie Butler of the Daily Telegraph newspaper, said: “Something everyone should consider when renting a car are all the hidden costs.
“Quoted prices for rentals usually include a collision damage waiver.
“But a collision damage waiver isn’t always included in the basic price.
“In that case you would have to buy it separately, and even with a collision damage waiver, you can still be liable for repairs to some parts of the car, including the tyres, underside and roof.”

In other news, international car hire company Sixt has furthered its operations in the Middle Eastern country of Syria by teaming up with the car manufacturer Mercedes Benz to offer the Mercedes C Class 180K car as part of its rental fleet.

The sales manager of Sixt in Syria, Fayez Mahayni, said: “This marvellous mutual co-operation between Sixt and Mercedes came naturally out of the fact that both companies are from Germany and both companies already have a first class international partnership.

“Reaching this agreement was not hard due to the advantages both companies are going to have. There is a symmetry -  Levant Motors (Mercedes' new agent) is now six months old, the same age of Sixt in Syria.

“As we all know the Mercedes Benz is a luxurious prestige car, and so launching it at the Four Seasons' Boulevard hotel in Syria will serve the hotel’s interest very well.'
