Fishguard Mini Guide
Fishguard is a town in Dyfed, Wales, within the county of Pembrokeshire. This small settlement has a population of only around 5,000 people but is charming enough to make it worth visiting should you come to Wales. Fishguard is a beautiful fishing harbour within the Pembrokeshire Coast national Park and so it is an extremely picturesque and unspoilt area. Walking through the fields around Fishguard you will see all kinds of wonderful wild flowers while the sea which surrounds it is full of dolphins, seals and other marine life.

The Brecon Beacons National Park is one of Wales’ three national parks and is an incredible area of natural beauty which has many mountains and large areas of green space. The mountains within the Brecon Beacons have Welsh names and the three largest of them are Fan y Big, Pen y Fan and Corn Du. The Brecon Beacons take their name from the Welsh practice of lighting fires (beacons) on top of the mountains to warn of impending English attacks. If you plan to go walking there in winter take care as the sudden changing of the weather can be extremely dangerous.

Cardiff International Airport which has flights to and from Great Britain, Europe, Spain and America. Flybe, SkyEurope and bmibaby are some of the low cost carriers to operate from Cardiff. It is possible to pick up your Rhino car from there too.
Major roads to go through Fishguard include the A487 and the A40. From Fishguard there is a ferry which goes to Rosslare in Ireland. Enquire about the possibility of taking your hire car on the ferry if you are interested in doing this journey.
