St Pancras in London is known for the Kings Cross St Pancras railway station. In olden times this medieval parish spread from York Way in the East to Regents Park in the West, and from Highgate in the north to Oxford Street in the south.
By the end of the eighteenth century Camden Town was created by the earl of Camden and that name for the area supplanted St Pancras. St Pancras is also known for having an interesting graveyard where the likes of Thomas Hardy are buried and you can see the Hardy tree growing amidst the stones.
Kings Cross Mini Guide
Kings Cross is an area of central London which is known for its iconic train station St Pancras International. St Pancras has recently undergone a massive renovation to turn it into a European destination station. The area has suffered from a lack of care becoming quite rundown. Now it is the main terminus for the Eurostar in Britain, connecting the country with Belgium and France. Car hire at Kings Cross is the best way to see the boroughs of Islington and Camden. Our rental branch is also not far from one of the other major train stations in England, Charing Cross.
Located nearby is also a huge mixed use property development called Kings Cross Central. With all of this investment happening in Kings Cross it is not surprising that restaurants, hotels and bars are springing up all over the place. Our staff can meet you as soon as you arrival in Kings Cross and show you to your vehicle. That way you can have access to many appealing attractions including London Canal Museum and the Camley Street Natural Park. There are also a number of interesting monuments including the Camden Town Hall and St Pancras Old Church that are well worth a visit.
The British Library is also one of the best libraries in the world with huge collections and a fantastic layout. People visit the libaray from all over the city to work, research or just gather their thoughts. Harry Potter fans will also be able to find a nice touch at the station itself where a platform nine and three quarters has been set up for posterity.
