Some of its most charming sights are Parliament Street, which is thought to be one of the narrowest in the world, the historic quayside of Exeter and the Royal Albert Memorial museum. It is home to a university as well as churches, a museum and a castle. Exeter is popular with tourists but it does not rely on them and has the feel of a real, functioning city, unlike some other holiday destinations. Although it has a long history being popular during both Medieval and Victorian times, the city was bombed extensively in World War Two which has robbed it of some of its lustre.However, visitors may be disappointed to find that the high street has not been put together with much imagination and is much like any other in the country with its chain stores.

If you are coming to Exeter St David’s train station there is a regular service from London Paddington in around three hours and a slightly slower service from London Waterloo.
