The countryside surrounding Banbury is very fine and there are a few landmarks in Banbury such as the Cross and Banbury Museum.  A great way to enjoy this area is to book Car HIre Aylesbury at great rates. If you are only passing through Banbury because you need to pick something up then you are in luck because the Castle Key Shopping Centre is well decked out with all the major shops.

There is a fantastic choice of grocery shopping in Banbury as they have three of the four biggest grocery chains in the country – Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's – and there is a farmer’s market in Banbury too, a good place to get fresh produce. The markets take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. In terms of restaurants and bars Banbury does not have a great choice however.

Banbury is situated on the River Cherwell where you can go fishing should you obtain a licence and a permit.

Banbury is a market and industrial town located on the River Cherwell in Oxfordshire England.   The nearest airports are London Heathrow, approx. 108km, and London Gatwick approx.167km.  Cheap car hire and taxis are readily available at the airports. The town has close proximity to the M40 motorway linking London to Birmingham via Oxford.  There is a good rail service and trains operate to Warwick, Birmingham and London Marylebone.  A reliable bus service also serves the town and surrounding area.

Banbury is renowned for the nursery rhyme ‘Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross’.The present cross was erected in 1859 to celebrate the wedding of the then Princess Royal to Prince Frederick of Prussia.  Banbury Cakes, a special fruit and pastry cake. are still produced in the town.
 
Two of the town’s famous inns remain, namely The Reindeer and the large 17th century Whateley Hall Hotel.  “Castle Quay” is a large shopping centre in the town.  It has over 80 stores and many household names are to be found there.  A local market is held every Thursday and Saturday in the market place and there is also a farmers’ market held on the first Friday of each month. 

There is a good selection of restaurants offering international cuisine and a large number of pubs and bars. For sports enthusiasts there are leisure centres, sports clubs, golf and horse riding.       

There are many places of interest in the Oxfordshire area such as the Sulgrave Manor and Broughton Castle.   The towns of Stratford upon Avon, Warwick and Oxford are easily accessible by car and all are within a 50km radius. Car hire is an excellent option to explore the county.  The Cotswolds is a stunningly beautiful area to drive around and there are countless pretty villages to discover.  The renowned Cotswold Way is a must for walkers.
