CHEAP CAR HIRE ORLANDO
Your cheap Orlando car hire company should provide you with a basic map of Orlando, plus directions to your hotel. Insist they give you these, as all the hire companies make a big point of this in their literature. Try to familiarise yourself with the main roads in advance and learn to navigate by the road numbers (as those are mainly given on the signposts) and the exit numbers of the main roads.
When you drive out of Orlando International Airport Car Hire (or the Orlando hire company's off-airport depot) don't look for signs to 'Orlando' - the airport's new signage should be a big help here. The main tourist areas are all south and west of the city proper, so follow the appropriate signs for your hotel. For the International Drive area (or I-Drive), you want the Beeline Expressway (Route 528) all the way west until it crosses I-Drive just north of SeaWorld. The main hotel area of I-Drive is to the north, so keep right at the exit.
Cheapest Orlando Rental Car Tip:
The Beeline Expressway (528) and Greeneway (417) are both toll roads, so keep some change in the car. Toll booths are reluctant to change notes above $20.

For western Kissimmee and Disney resorts go south out of the airport and take the Central Florida Greeneway (Highway 417) west until it intersects with State Route (SR) 536 at Exit 6 (for Animal Kingdom resorts, use Exit 3 and take Osceola Parkway). Then you take SR536 straight across into Walt Disney World Resort in Florida or Interstate 4 (1-4) west for one junction until it hits the main Kissimmee road, Highway 192 (aka the Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway).

For eastern Kissimmee, come off Highway 417 at Exit 11 with the Orange Blossom Trail (Highway 441), where going south brings you on to Highway 192 at the other end of the main tourist drag.
Leaving Orlando Sanford Airport is also a straightforward affair, boosted by the airport's simple design. Dollar and Alamo have made a big impression here with their British-dedicated operations, and Avis and Hertz are also on-site now, while Budget Cheap Car Hire Orlando and Enterprise Cheap Car Rental both have off-airport depots at Cheap Orlando MCO Airport Car Hire. The vast majority book with Alamo or Dollar, and you simply exit the baggage hall and walk straight across the road (to Dollar) or turn right and walk to the end of the concourse (for Alamo).
