Albuquerque is the largest city in the state of New Mexico, set in a sprawling desert metropolis. The city is full of great attractions and steeped in a colourful history, making this a city not to miss. Founded in 1706 and nicknamed “The Duke City” , it has undergone radical growth in past years, making it a very tourist friendly city.
There are many things to see and do in Albuquerque, ranging from a visit to the Rio Grande Zoo, where you will see a wide range of animals and activities, which make a visit here a must. A visiti to the Sandia Peak Tramway should be high on you to-do list, where you can ride the 10,400 foot high and one of the longest tramways in the world. You will gaze in awe at the very splender of this amazing scenery, a camera is essential. If heights are not for you, then why not visit one of the many museums of fine art and history, where you will gain a better understanding of this fine city and all that surrounds it. If you visit in October, you will witness the largest ballooning event in North America. You will see hundreds of balloons take to the sky and really is something to behold.
Shopping in the outdoor mall is where you can pick up a bargain or just something to remind you of your stay and then on to one of the fine dining restaurants for some Typical New Mexican cuisine. The city has something for everyone, whatever your taste, from the best Thai food to Persian classics, or just some good old fashion local delights. The nightlife is very vibrant and caters for all tastes of music.
