The airport is situated 7km from the centre of the city, it has two terminals which provide domestic and international flights. It is served by several US carriers with flights to parts of the US and international flights served by China, Japan and Korean Airlines. It services around 5 ½ million passengers but will see an increase as renovations are under way.
Anchorage is well known for its wildlife and if you take a drive in your car Hire Anchorage Airport vehicle, you may see a Black Bear or even a Grizzly. Moose are also popular here and are commonly seen roaming the city.
Discover the area on one of the many interesting walks, if you head down to 4th Avenue and F Street you will find a log cabin. This is the visitors centre where you can purchase a map and follow one of the many trails, a great way to see the real Anchorage.
For lovers of fishing, a real treat is waiting for you at Ship Creek. You can fish for huge Salmon which can then be eaten for your lunch. Alternatively you can just sit and watch the vast numbers swimming upstream ready to spawn. The Ship Creek centre is also a great place to visit and here you can see native Alaskan dancers perform twice daily, free of charge.
There are also many trails ideal for cross country skiing, or if that is a little energetic you can take a ride from one of the dog mushers.
