Stirling is an historic city in Scotland which is characterised by the beautiful castle which overlooks it.

Stirling castle is definitely a must see in this part of the world, but be aware that in the summer it gets extremely crowded with tourists. Despite that it remains one of Scotland’s best preserved castles where you can take a tour of the great hall, the royal chapel and the main palace.

The castle is only one of many amazing buildings to see in Stirling. They include the Wallace Monument which sits on a hill above the city, Cambuskenneth Abbey, the Church of the Holy Rude and Stirling Old Bridge.

Many people come to Stirling every year to use it as a stepping stone from which to access Scotland’s highlands. This location meant that many battles for Scotland’s independence were fought in Stirling.
