Paisley is a small town in Scotland which is situated next to Glasgow airport.
Paisley is part of the county of Renfrewshire and this burgh lies in the central west Lowlands. Paisley was formerly colonised by the Romans who set up fortifications here. The town really grew into itself when an abbey was constructed in the 13th century before becoming a hub for cotton production during the industrial revolution.
Although Paisley is a town it is bigger than the cities of Stirling and Inverness, and Scotland’s fifth largest settlement after Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen.
Paisley is surrounded by many golf courses. These include the Barshaw Park Gold Club, the Ralston Golf Club, The Pollok Golf Club, the Haggs Castle Golf Club and the Cowglen Golf Club.
Two major motorways pass Paisley, the M77 and the M8 motorways. The M77 motorway goes from southern Glasgow to the village of Fenwick in Kilmarnock while the M8 motorway goes from Edinburgh to Glasgow and is the busiest road in Scotland.
Paisley is next Glasgow international airport to the west of the city. It has flights to England via British Airways and BMI as well as low cost carriers like Easyjet which operate routes to London Stansted and Luton.
