Grangemouth Mini Guide
Grangemouth lies to the north east of Edinburgh and there is only a short drive between the town and Scotland’s capital city. This former burgh of the Falkirk district looks out of the body of water known as the Forth of Firth. Grangemouth originally built much of its prosperity via canal trading along the Forth and Clyde Canal. Much of the town is in close proximity to water including the River Carron and the River Forth. A soap works was also a major source of employment in Grangemouth, though this factory was demolished a few years ago. Today a huge petrochemical plant, which is one of Europe’s biggest, dominates Grangemouth’s industrial landscape.
One of the prize attractions in Grangemouth is its international standard sports centre, Grangemouth Stadium, where all sorts of athletic pursuits can be enjoyed. However, golfers have to go to the neighbouring village of Polmont to use the club which is located there. Grangemouth is near to the M9 motorway which goes from the outskirts of Edinburgh all the way to Dunblane and passes various other towns on the way. Exit junction 6 of the motorway to access the town of Grangemouth. Smaller roads of note in Grangemouth are the A904 and the B9132.

Edinburgh airport. Some of the many airlines to use Edinburgh airport are bmi, flyglobespan, Aer Arann, Thomson Airways and KLM cityhopper. The airport has a whole host of low cost flights with carriers such as Easyjet, jet2, and Ryanair as well. These include routes to European cities such as Alicante in Spain, Amsterdam in Holland, Belfast in Ireland, Bristol in England and Cardiff in Wales.
